A Sustainable, Ethical and Humane, British Shorthair Cattery in Sherwood, Oregon
At Farmhouse Brits, we have taken something which started as a family passion and turned it into a successful breeding program. We breed our British Shorthair cats to have friendly dispositions and fit in seamlessly as incredible family companions. We are located in Sherwood, Oregon where we live together with our dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits on 2.5 acres. We breed responsibly and according to the best practices of the trade.
Get to Know Us
Our cattery's goals are to maintain the highest ethical practices while being sustainable, eco-friendly, humane, and transparent. There aren’t a lot of eco-friendly options in the cat food industry, but there are a few. Our cats are fed the highest quality sustainably sourced nutrition from the most humane and ethical farms, fisheries, and producers. We use cat food and products that practice humane animal rendering, are certified organic, don’t test on animals, and use manufactured products made without the use of forced, unpaid human labor.
In our cattery, we use only flushable and compostable litter made from tofu. In our home, we have both pedigree and rescue cats and dogs, as well as chickens and rabbits. We are aware that most of our local shelters are overwhelmed and in need of resources, so at Farmhouse Brits, we donate each year to our local Cat Adoption Team in Oregon and Project Meow in Philadelphia.
